Teams using Moodtalk report significantly better communication, as regular check-ins help identify and address concerns early.
Moodtalk provided valuable support to new team leaders by enabling faster insight into team dynamics and helping them focus on important topics. It facilitated communication and eased the transition into the new role.
New colleagues were able to integrate into existing teams more quickly thanks to Moodtalk, as they gained immediate insight into ongoing topics and challenges.
When Petra Meyer took over the management of a nursing team working in shifts, she realized how difficult it was to gather concerns, difficulties, and even positive topics from all team members. Due to shift work, some colleagues rarely met, making it hard to build a shared understanding of important collaboration topics.
“The difficulty was that we work in shifts, and getting in contact with everyone—or staying in contact—was a big challenge at first.”
– Petra Meyer, Co-Head Nurse at PDAG
Seeking a way to ease communication during the orientation phase and to help develop shared goals and collaboration methods, Petra decided to try Moodtalk as part of a pilot project.
Moodtalk was used to complement existing team communication by regularly creating space for exchange. The flexibility of the platform was particularly helpful:
“We could choose our own topics. It wasn’t predefined—it was really what was on our minds as a team.”
– Petra Meyer, Co-Head Nurse at PDAG
Moodtalk was integrated into the monthly team meeting. Team members prepared in advance by answering questions about relevant topics, making focused discussion easier during the meetings.
“The advantage is that you come to the team meeting more focused, you have an idea of what’s coming, and we’ve learned to communicate more openly.”
– Petra Meyer, Co-Head Nurse at PDAG
Thanks to regular discussions, the team found it easier to address challenges and work together on solutions. Petra especially noted the improvement in communication: “We learned to openly express both criticism and praise, which often gets lost. This helped us establish a culture of appreciation and transparency.”
The ongoing support for team topics was also appreciated:“With Moodtalk, we consistently stick with the same topics and can track our progress,” adds Petra.
By making team collaboration visible, it was easier for new team members to get up to speed: “New colleagues quickly understand what we’re working on and where our focus lies. That makes onboarding much easier.”
Given the already high workload in nursing, it wasn’t initially clear whether adding another tool would be beneficial. But Petra found that the time invested paid off in the long run:
“The 20 to 30 minutes we spend on Moodtalk each month save us time in one-on-one conversations and conflict resolution in the long term.”
– Petra Meyer, Co-Head Nurse at PDAG
Structured discussions helped identify and address issues early—before they became major problems, which is crucial for delivering an outstanding patient experience.
Though every team is different, Petra found Moodtalk to be a helpful tool for supporting team communication.
“Especially in teams with rotating schedules, it can be a good way to stay in touch, strengthen team spirit, and work sustainably on topics.”
– Petra Meyer, Co-Head Nurse at PDAG
For Petra and her team, Moodtalk proved to be a valuable addition that helped promote team cohesion and structure their daily work more effectively.
